On September, 13, 2018, Academician of RAS, Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) has held a plenary sitting of the Scientific and Technical Council (STC) of Autonomous Institute “Technopark-Mordovia”, which he chaired in Saransk.
The meeting was devoted to “Digital agenda in fiber optic”.
Opening the meeting, Evgeny Kablov reminded that the President of Russia Vladimir Putin has set the task to form digital economy. Concerning the digital economy, in July this year the Head of State Vladimir Putin has noted that it is not a separate industry, in actual fact it is a way of life, a new basis for the development of the system of public administration, economy, business, social sphere, the whole society. The formation of the digital economy is a matter of national security and independence of Russia, competition of domestic companies. "The digital economy needs infrastructure, where fiber optics plays the main role," Evgeny Kablov pointed out.
According to the words of the Head of the Republic of Mordovia Vladimir D. Volkov, at present the region has everything necessary to make a powerful breakthrough in technological development. According to him, it is necessary to increase the number of organizations that carry out technological innovations, ensure accelerated implementation of digital technologies in the economy and social sphere, and create a stable and secure infrastructure for high-speed transmission and storage of large volume of data in the coming years.
During the sitting of the Council, one of the directions for solving these problems was considered as follows: creation of an effective system for promoting technologies, primarily, fiber-optical ones. The place of fiber-optics in the development of digital economy and real contribution of the republic to the achievement of the set goals were discussed.

Following the results of the sitting, Evgeny Kablov pointed out, that "today's discussion at the meeting of the Council demonstrates that the Head of Mordovia has completely managed to organize the work of the Technopark to fulfill all tasks. The production of a special fiber will allow the digital economy to function fully."
