On June 28, 2018, a solemn rally devoted to the 86^th anniversary from the date of foundation of VIAM was held on the central square of VIAM.

In his speech Academician of RAS, Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM congratulated the employees of VIAM on a memorable date: “It is great event for us and for the country according to the results obtained by VIAM. These results were used to strengthen defensive capacity of our state at different stages of historical development”.

“This holiday unites us, educates young children in keeping with the glorious traditions, which always distinguished VIAM. The history of VIAM is a glorious history, the pages of which are reflected in our museum. I hope that the youth of the institute will appreciate and remember teachers, predecessors and their enormous merits. It should be remembered that today VIAM carries out important state tasks to strengthen defensive capacity, diversify production and we have achieved good results”, - Evgeny Kablov pointed out.

Nikolay N. Gonchar, deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation congratulated the employees of VIAM on the anniversary and wished them good health, happiness and further success in work for the benefit of our country. “I am proud that I was lucky enough to make a feasible contribution to the development of VIAM and my work and my opportunities were in demand”, - he pointed out. Nikolay Gonchar addressed himself to the young people of the institute: “Believe me; you will be proud of working at the best scientific-research organization of our country these years”.

Deputy of Moscow City Duma, Alexander Yu. Smetanov noted that the employees of VIAM work for future to make Russia powerful modern nation: “Your institute is the innovative enterprise that fits in well with the Moscow pool of modern scientific and manufacturing enterprises. People, who work here, make future for Moscow and for Russia. I am sure; in the years that followed you will take great pains to continue developing our industry.”

In his welcoming speech, Head of Basmanny administrative board, Salman K. Dadaev noted that VIAM was pride of the region, pride of Moscow. “The main potential of the institute is, of course, its employees, engineers and scientists, whose developments are in demand in different sectors of our industry”, - Salman Dadaev said.

Head of the Basmanny municipal district, Gennady V. Anichkin said in his congratulation: “You defense Motherland by your work and scientific developments. The country has a guarantee that there will be the peaceful sky over us. I want to wish you new discoveries,  new achievements and professional growth.”

Academician of RAS, Valery I. Bukhtiyarov, Director of Boreskov Institute of Catalysis congratulated the employees of VIAM on the institute`s Birthday, also noting: “I am really impressed, that VIAM celebrates not only anniversaries, but also annual birthdays of the institute”. He also expressed confidence in the further fruitful cooperation between VIAM and the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of sciences. 

In the course of the solemn rally, winners of the contest “Materials scientists of the future” were awarded diplomas.

In conclusion of the solemn meeting, Evgeny Kablov awarded the foremost scientists, engineers and employees of VIAM with gold medals named after V.I. Zasulsky, A.T. Tumanov, I.I. Sidorin.
