On August 18, 2017, Academician of RAS, Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM met with Danilo Alonso Mederos, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba at the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation.

During the visit, the Work Program of the Russian-Cuban Climatic Testing Station up to 2024 was signed.

The parties also discussed the course of joint work on deployment of basic testing equipment within the territory of Cuba before the end of 2017.

As Evgeny Kablov noted, that commissioning of the joint station would open the significant prospects for cooperation between the Cuban and the Russian scientific community.

It should be noted, that VIAM and Centre of Environmental Studies of Cienfuegos (the Republic of Cuba) signed the cooperation agreement, in terms of which the parties agreed to cooperate in the field of establishment of the Russian-Cuban joint Climatic Testing Station for exposing materials under the tropical weather conditions in the Caribbean.
