The Third Chinese-Russian Scientific-Technical Symposium «Advanced Materials for Modern Civil Aeronautical Engineering of the XXI Century» was held in Beijing on November 17, 2014. The event was organized by the All-Russian scientific-research institute of aviation materials (VIAM) and the Chinese academy of aviation fundamental engineering (AVIC TECH), a part of Aviation Industry Corporation of China.
The symposium was opened by Academician of RAS, Professor Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM and Liu Lin, President of AVIC TECH.
They have noted importance of this symposium purposed to bilateral cooperation in the field of fundamental and applied researchers and creation of new materials for civil aviation.
Further, participants of the event presented their reports.
Dmitry V.Chesnokov, deputy chief of laboratory, VIAM, made the report «Magnesium Alloys Microarc Oxidation Technology».
In turn, Professor Sun Zhihua, director of the research center for protection coatings, Beijing institute of aviation materials (BIAM) presented the report «Performance study on microarc oxidation coating of aluminum alloy». In particular, she noted that «this coating has a number of advantages and can be broadly applied both in aerospace industry and in mechanical engineering».
Candidate of Science (Eng.) Artyom Gayamov, head of section, VIAM, made the report «The Metallic Materials and Structures Surface Protection by the Method of High-Effective Ion-Plasma Treatment». He has reported that «the subject of the report is extremely important for an increase in service life of components of gas turbine engines and gas turbine units working in conditions of aggressive environments».
Professor Wu Hongchen, BAMTRY, made the report «Observation of limited sticking and self-spattering for off-normal angles of incidence during energetic deposition of metal ions».
Michael Dalin, head of section, VIAM, presented to the attendees the report «Research of reliability and accuracy of determination of the size of defects at non-destructive testing of composite materials». As the speaker noted, «carrying out these works is our major task as the tendency to apply monolithic carbon fiber-reinforced plastics for production of critical high-loaded aircraft structures, such as panels and spars of outboard wing consoles, central sections and tail units is observed some last years.»
«The latest developments in the field of ultrasonic quantitative assessment of defects in structures made from composite materials» was the subject of the report of Professor Liu Songping, director of the research center for composite materials of Composite Company Ltd (ACC, AVIC TECH), where he noted importance of increasing efficiency and quality of critical aircraft structures made of polymer materials.
Oleg Eliseyev, head of laboratory, VIAM, prepared the report «Development of manufacturing technology of erosion-resistant rubber and parts made of it for protection against abrasive wear of the blades leading edges for civil helicopters and technology of its fixation to the materials of the blade. Development of protection methods against microbiological destruction of aircraft sealants». In his report, he told about development of rubber compound compositions and manufacturing technology of vulcanized shaped parts.
Professor Wu Songhua, BIAM, presented the report «The study of uv-curing technology for polythioester sealant».
Roman O. Vakhromov, head of laboratory, VIAM, made the report «Development of a High Strength and Fracture Toughness Aluminum-Lithium Alloy, Plates Manufacturing Technology and Consideration of Their Application Area». In particular, he reported that «one of the main ways of weight reduction of advanced aircraft structures is application of aluminum - lithium alloys with lowered density». Besides, the speaker told about stages of development and application of Al-Li alloys in Russia and abroad, results of researches and development of these alloys of new generation, technologies for manufacturing of rolled semiproducts with lowered anisotropy and made examples of efficiency of stepwise aging modes in terms of fracture toughness improvement.
Li Huaixue, leading engineer, BAMTRY, was the last of speakers; he presented the report “Effect of defects on tensile properties of Ti6Al4V alloys fabricated by selective laser melting.
Following the results of the symposium, the Parties noted relevancy of the presented reports, and paid attention to the importance of broadening of mutually beneficial cooperation by carrying out joint scientific works, exchange of experience and training of specialists.
It should be mentioned that the First Russian-Chinese scientific-technical symposium was held on November 12, 2012 in Shenzhen (China), and the second one –on August 27, 2013 at VIAM.
