The laboratory performs investigations of chemical (elemental) composition including gas forming additives, alloys on different bases, including: nickel heat-resistant alloys, steels, titanium alloys, refractory alloys (on the base Co, W, Mo, Ti, Nb, Ta), aluminum and magnesium alloys; electrolytic baths analysis, slags, frits, inorganic and other materials.
The laboratory is developing standard specimens of alloys composition on different bases in category ESS, BSS, SSS for spectral analysis. Techniques of chemical and spectral analysis of investigated materials are developed in the laboratory.
The laboratory is conducting fundamental and applied researches in the field of structural-phase condition of materials for aviation application on metallic and nonmetallic bases, development of methodical base of metallophysical researches and also performs reference researches and rendering assistance to branch enterprises.
The laboratory realizes measuring of a complex of thermal-physical properties (heat capacity, thermal and temperature conductivity, temperature coefficient of linear expansion, but also electrical conduction and density) of different kinds of alloys, ceramic and polymer composite materials, different kinds of thermal insulating materials, semi-products.
The main aim of the laboratory is receiving of true data about physical and mechanical characteristics of semi-products from high-strength steels, aluminum, titanium and magnesium alloys, metal composites, plastics and high-strength polymer composite materials (glass-, carbon- organic plastics) under carrying out of mechanical tests.
The object of research of the laboratory are materials of flue gas path of aviation gas turbine engines and ground power plants on the base of heat-resistant nickel and titanium alloys, heat-resistant steels, intermetallides and natural composites.
The laboratory performs researches of materials properties aimed at provision of their strength, reliability and service life under development and creation of aeronautical engineering and also carries out tests for determination of calculated characteristics necessary under qualification of GTE materials.
The laboratory is specializing on development of techniques and technologies of nondestructive control of parts and structures from metallic, nonmetallic and composite materials. The laboratory consists of sectors: X-ray, acoustic, magnetic, capillary, eddy-current and heat methods of NDC.
The main activities of the laboratory are implementation of researches and receiving of true data about climatic factors influence on changing of physical and mechanical and other service characteristics of nonmetallic materials, determination of materials, fuels, parts, assemblies and components of structures resistance against the influence of mold fungus and bacteria, increase of materials resistance against microflora influence, determination of fire hazard characteristics, new and developed polymer materials, development and research of ways to increase a fire safety of materials and components of structures based on them.
