December 24, Director General of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM), Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Evgeny Nikolayevich Kablov held a traditional meeting with young professionals and scientists of VIAM.

The head of VIAM noted that today young professionals are making a significant contribution to the creation of new generation materials not only for the domestic aviation industry, but also for other industries. “Our youth is at the forefront, your work is appreciated at the highest state level. This is very pleasing,” said Yevgeny Kablov.

In addition, the Director General of VIAM noted the special role of the Council of Young Professionals and Scientists, which is designed to promote the professional development of the institute's youth, the acquisition of professional experience, and the development of creative and scientific potential.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Council of Young Professionals and Scientists of VIAM Olesya Sedykh reported on the main results of the Council's work in 2019 and tasks for the next year.

In particular, she presented indicators on the dynamics of defending theses by young professionals (6 works), their participation in grants from the RFBR, RSF (7 grants), scientific conferences (participated in 32 conferences with 78 reports), and exhibitions (JEC World, Formnext, MAKS, Army, Innoprom, Metal-Expo), as well as in sports and public events. VIAM young professionals won the contests “100 Best Inventions”, “Prospective Inventions”, “Aircraft Builder of the Year”, “Engineer of the Year”, laureates of the Moscow Government Prize.

In addition, Olesya Sedykh said that it would be very difficult for young professionals to achieve high levels without those people who share their practical experience with them. The best mentors - Alexei Kochetkov, Elena Dolgova, Andrey Ivanov and Anna Gunyaeva, were awarded diplomas in 2019.
