On February 10, 2017, the delegation of the United engine corporation, headed by deputy Director General – Chief Designer, Yury N. Shmotin visited the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM).
Within the framework of the visit, the representatives of UEK got acquainted with experimental and research base of VIAM, as well as high-technology low-tonnage manufactures.
The guests were told about the institute`s works on development of materials and manufacturing technologies of new generation in interests of aircraft engine building.
Of particular interest to the representatives of UEC was additive manufacturing of full cycle, developed at VIAM, which had no comparable counterparts in Russia.
As Academician of RAS, Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM pointed out: “most of the challenges, facing the modern engine-building, can be solved by using additive technologies. The application of these advanced technologies allows to produce parts of high quality at the lowest costs”.
The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of additive technologies.
It should be noted, that in 2015 the cooperation conception between VIAM and UEC was signed in order to implement the materials of new generation when producing aviation engines. The conception proposes to perform joint researches, to develop innovative materials and to produce resource-saving technologies.
