On September 24, 2016, a presentation of the book “Robert Bartini” took place in the 11^th International exhibition “Gidroaviasalon”.

Representatives of the organizations as follows: RT-Chemcomposite, G.M. Beriev aircraft company, SibNIA named after S.A. Chaplygin and ORPE “Technologia” named after A.G. Romashin participated in the event.

The edition is devoted to the genius Soviet aircraft designer. He was of Italian descent, whose projects had a huge impact on development of national aviation.

The book, prepared by the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials, is considered to be unique. It contains previously unknown aspects of Bartini`s biography before his emigration to the Soviet Union in 1923. This information became available due to the translation of the book “Life and airplanes of Robert Bartini”, written by Giuseppe Ciampaglia, Professor, famous Italian historian in the field of aviation.

 Besides, the book includes the researches of Dmitry Lavrishchev, employee of VIAM, attached by rare historical photographs, diagrams and drafts of Bartini`s aircrafts.

As Evgeny N. Kablov, Academician of RAS,  Director General of VIAM pointed out, “Dozens of books have been written about the genius aircraft designer Robert Bartini, but  there is still no description of his activity and  “blind-spots” in the scientist`s biography remain riddles.  Even his origin and real surname are still subjects for research and discussion”.  

According to Evgeny Kablov, Robert Bartini did considerable for aviation materials science. “He as distinguished innovator understood that it was impossible to develop new techniques without new materials. Bartini always was in close contact with distinguished scientists of VIAM – A.T. Tumanov, S.T. Kishkin, N.M. Sklyarov were frequently mentioned in his working documents”, - Leader of the institute pointed out.

“Robert Bartini left noticeable mark not only in national aviation, but in fundamental science as follows: theoretical physics, hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, thermal physics, - Evgeny Kablov said. – He was not only ideologist of new look of aviation engineering, but integrator of brave, new engineering solution, some of which we have been unable to understand until now”.

At the conclusion of the presentation, Evgeny Kablov and Dmitry Lavrishchev answered all questions of the journalists.
