On August 30, 2016 Oleg A. Volik, representative of Association “Ekranoplan” and Yury G. Varakosov, director of the organization visited the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM).

In particular, they viewed scientific-research and test facilities, high-technology low-tonnage manufacturing. Employees of VIAM told about new developments of the institute and demonstrated the work of unique equipment.

The guests expressed particular interest in the developments of VIAM in the field of polymer composite and corrosion-resisting materials. The application of new materials will allow increasing aerohydrodynamic characteristics of ekranoplans as high-speed transportation vehicles.

Issues relating to mutually advantageous cooperation were discussed within the framework of the visit.

It should be noted, that the Association “Ekranoplan includes organizations, which take part in development of projects of ekranoplans and necessary special airborne equipment, engines, new structural materials within the framework of state contracts.
