On April 28, 2016 representatives of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) took part in a meeting on establishment of Russian-Cuban Center for environmental tests and components of structures in the territory of Cuba. The meeting took place in the Embassy of Cuba in the Russian Federation.
The meeting was chaired by signor Danilo Alonso Mederos, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment.
In the course of the meeting, Aleksey N. Lutsenko, Head of the Testing Center of VIAM spoke about the preliminary work to implement the project. As Danilo Alonso Mederos pointed out, the establishment of the center was prospective and timely for both of the parties and would be the most important step to develop scientific and technical cooperation between our countries. According to him, the project would be very well-planned, elaborated and was considered as pilot.
Besides the Cuba party reported that the project of the establishment of climatic testing center was priority within the framework of Working group on cooperation in the field of science, technology and environment of Intergovernmental Russian-Cuban Commission on trade-economic and scientific and technological cooperation.
It should be noted, that G. V. Akimov Gelendzhik climatic testing center (GCTC) was established at VIAM and successfully functions now. GCTC VIAM is the only scientific climatic testing center in Russia, allowing to perform complex tests of materials, components of structures and articles as well as optimization of protective systems against corrosion, ageing and biological damages in the coastal climatic condition.
