On February 16, 2016 Anatoly B. Laptev, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Deputy Head of Test Сenter of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials and Dmitry A. Movenko, research officer of the laboratory of VIAM took part in the first international science and technical conference entitled “Pipeline transport. Theory and practice – 2016”.

It should be noted, that the conference was aimed at sharing experience in the field of safeguard and effective operation of pipeline systems as well as solving issues and tasks of modernization and innovative development of pipeline transport. Oil and gas engineering company – All-union research institute for construction and operation of pipelines, enterprises of fuel and energy sector (OJSC “VNIIST”) acted as the organizer of the meeting.

During the conference, representatives of VIAM made reports. In particular, Anatoly Laptev carried out an experience review of VIAM in the research of metal biocorrosion and spoke about the crucial influence of biological factor on local corrosion damages and operational life of a construction. Besides, he reported about the researches of biocorrosion in the water area of Gelendzhik bay, which are carried out by specialists of VIAM`s branch – G.V. Akimov Gelendzhik climatic testing center.

In turn, Dmitry Movenko reported about the decisive role of corrosive nonmetallic inclusions in corrosion resistance of steels as well as concluded that it was needed to include a quantity of impurities into a passport for steel products.
