On November, 18, 2015 a system of capillary electrophoresis “Dripping” of home manufacture was set up and activated in a branch of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials – G.V. Akimov Gelendzhik Climatic Testing Center (GCTC VIAM). The equipment was established within the framework of a joint laboratory of VIAM and Samara State Aerospace University named after S.P. Korolev. An agreement of its establishment was signed in the presence of Dmitry O. Rogozin, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation at GCTC VIAM in September of last year. This laboratory is engaged in issues of corrosion, ageing and biodeterioration of materials and complex engineering systems.
Specialists of SSAU headed by Prof. Igor A. Platonov, Doctor of Science (Tech.) carried out equipment adjusting. “The new equipment will allow evaluating corrosiveness of the coastal atmosphere and marine environment of the Black Sea coast, basing on the latest achievements in the field of qualitative and quantitative analysis of corrosion-active ions using capillary electrophoresis”, - Sergey V. Panin, Head of GCTC VIAM informed. According to him, it will ultimately allow creating a layout of database and atlas of corrosiveness to estimate safe operating life and overhaul period for aviation engineering, equipment and complex engineering systems in the areas of the Black Sea coast in future.
