On April 20, 2015, academician Evgeny Kablov, Director General of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM), visited Kazan, capital of Tatarstan, where he met with Rustam N. Minnikhanov, head of the Republic.
During the meeting, Evgeny Kablov reported on the implementation of agreements reached during the visit of Rustam Minnikhanov to VIAM on June 8, 2011. These agreements served as the basis for development of cooperation of the Institute with industrial enterprises, research and educational organizations of the republic. He also presented to the participants of the meeting the future activities of the VIAM branch, creation of which is planned in Kazan, the main stages of this project and targets and indicators it is focused on.
Based on the results of the meeting, an action plan for establishment of VIAM branch in Tatarstan was signed.
All suggestions of Evgeny Kablov met the approval both of the leadership of the republic and the heads of enterprises of the region.
Heads of leading enterprises of aviation industry of the region (JSC "Kazan Helicopter Plant", JSC“Kazan Motor Manufacturing Company” (JSC "KMPO"), JSC "Kazan Aviation Plant named after Gagarin, Innovation and Technological Center “Kazan scientific and research institute of aviation technology” (OJSC "KNIAT"), etc.), engineering and petrochemical complex ("Tatneftekhiminvest-holding" JSC, "Kazan electrotechnical plant" JSC, etc.), Tatarstan Academy of Sciences and universities (Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev (KNRTU-KAI), Kazan Federal University (KFU), etc.) attended the event.
Following the results of the meeting, the "road map" to establish a branch of VIAM in Tatarstan was signed by Ravil H. Zaripov, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan and Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM. "It launched the next phase of cooperation between the Institute and Tatarstan with the purpose of innovative development of the region based on the use of materials and production technologies of the new generation," - said Evgeny Kablov.
Polymer composite materials were selected as the main direction for development of the production infrastructure of the VIAM branch, because the main chemical components of reinforcing fillers (carbon and glass fiber) are produced in the region and end-users of these materials are situated there as well.
In particular, it is planned to start production of woven reinforcing fillers and bulk preforms based on carbon fibers, solvent-based and melt prepregs, pultruzed shapes and semi-finished products, sound-absorbing materials, PCM billets produced by an energy-saving method of vacuum forming, special heat-resistant and non-flammable foams, and intelligent materials of the 2nd and 3rd generations.
It is remarkable that a few hours prior to signing of the document Evgeny Kablov and Ravil Zaripov considered preliminary the establishment of the VIAM branch in Tatarstan, as well as agreed the main directions of its scientific activity.
It should be noted that in frame of his visit to Kazan, Evgeny Kablov also visited the regional engineering center of industrial laser technologies "KAI-Laser". There he became acquainted with infrastructure of the center, and discussed with specialists of the center the ways of implementation of promising joint projects, including development of laser additive technologies at "KAI-Laser", as well as machining of products made from steels, heat-resistant, aluminum and titanium alloys.
In addition, on April 20, Evgeny Kablov had met with doctor of science (Eng.), professor, corresponding member of Academy of Sciences Nail F. Kashapov, Vice-Rector for innovations of the Kazan Federal University. In frame of negotiations, the Parties discussed prospects of development of additive technologies in biomedicine and design of polymer models for production of ceramic molds for large-sized shaped casting in Tatarstan.
