On March 10, 2015, Alexander Povalko, deputy minister of education and science of the Russian Federation visited VIAM.
He was acquainted with experimental and production facilities of VIAM. In particular, Alexander Povalko inspected scientific laboratories and high-tech low-tonnage production bays and talked with specialists of the institute.
Academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM told about Strategic directions of the development of materials and technologies of their processing for the period until 2030, advanced developments of the Institute in the field of creation of materials of new generation and about the personnel training system operating at VIAM. «Due to own low-tonnage production and involvement of high-skilled personnel VIAM meets the challenges in the field of development and production of different materials for domestic industry», – noted Evgeny Kablov.
In their turn, specialists of VIAM demonstrated the work of the newest research and production equipment, unique developments and technologies of VIAM to Alexander Povalko and told him about their scientific activities and achievements of the Institute in the materials engineering.

Alexander B. Povalko was born on May 16, 1970 in Lyubetsy, Moscow Region. He has graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute as radio engineer (1992) and Maimonides State Classical Academy in the field of applied mathematics (1996).
In 1994-2007, he worked as the senior adviser of the assessment department, projects director and business development director of PACC Consulting Company. In 2007-2008, he headed the strategic planning department of Renova-StroyGroup GC. In 2008-2012, he was the deputy director of the State committee of the Russian Federation for youth and then the deputy director of Federal Agency for Youth Affairs.
On June 18, 2012, he was appointed to the position of the deputy minister of science and education of the Russian Federation by the order №1011-r of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
