On December 5, 2014 a new creative project called "Synkletos at VIAM" has launched at the All-Russian Research Institute of Aviation Materials.

Created on the initiative of the Council of young scientists and specialists of the Institute, the Synkletos will serve as a meeting place with culture and the arts personalities, academics, journalists, representatives of social and political associations, which in the "live communication" mode will tell about their activities, professional and creative achievements.

The event was opened by the head of the Intellectual Property department, candidate of technical science Dmitry E. Kablov. He has noted that "the first meeting of our project is devoted to VIAM, and it’s so well matched that the Synklitos guest was an employee of VIAM Andrew R. Narsky, who wrote a book about the origin of domestic materials science, in which our institute played the key role."

During the meeting, Andrew Narsky has presented his book: "The development of the domestic aviation nonmetallic materials science in 1922-1932. Unknown pages of history in archival documents."

In particular, he told about the investigations conducted for the book, presented rare photos and archival documents of 20-30-ies of the last century, announced interesting facts about creation of VIAM. In his speech Andrei Narsky paid special attention to the story of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Michael, which was located on the modern territory of VIAM. According to him, a close associate of Peter I James Bruce was buried in the same church.

Andrew Narsky story aroused great interest among the audience. The guest answered numerous questions, and thanked the audience for their attention and good atmosphere.

The book is devoted to the historical and technical analysis of genesis and development of certain areas of domestic materials science from the work of Testing Materials Section of Central Aerodynamic Institute (TsAGI) before the creation of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials.
