On August 21-22, 2014, the V All-Russian conference on research and testing of materials properties «ТеstМаt-2014» was held at G. V. AKIMOV GELENDJIK CLIMATIC TESTING CENTER (GCTC), subsidiary of FSUE “VIAM”.
Leading scientists of VIAM and aviation industry enterprises presented their reports focused on nondestructive testing. In particular, X-ray, acoustic, capillary and magnetic test methods were considered.
On August 21, candidate of engineering science Alexey N. Lutsenko, head of Testing Center of VIAM has opened the plenary session. On behalf of the management of the institute, he has greeted the attendees and has expressed the words of gratitude for participation in the event. According to him, the purpose of this conference is not only exchange of experience, but also assignment of actual tasks in the field of non-destructive testing.
As Alexey Lutsenko has noted, «thanks to Testmat, specialists have received a ground for meetings and discussions of the major scientific directions in the field of tests and researches of material properties». In his opinion, "Testmat" helps to present results and technologies of different researches, which is very important both for implementation of scientific projects, and for work of industrial enterprises.
Аlexey Lutsenko made a report «Actual and problem issues of non-destructive testing. Experience and practice of FSUE «VIAM». In particular, he told about results of VIAM work in the field of non-destructive testing, аnd also about challenges, which the institute meets in this area. According to him, the competent personnel policy is one of the most important causes of successful work. «For that purpose, Training Centre was created at our institute and today it successfully works», said Alexey Lutsenko.
After that, an excursion on the territory of GCTC was held for participants of the conference.
The personnel of the Center showed to the guests the atmosphere ground for exposure of materials and structural components being tested in natural climatic conditions, as well as laboratories.
Alexey Lutsenko summed up the conference. In his speech, he stressed the importance and relevance of "TestMat" not only for scientific researches and training, but also for exchange of experience, continuity of generations. In turn, the participants of the event informed that the interest of scientific and professional communities in "TestMat" increases every year. Many participants expressed their confidence that the regular holding of such thematic conferences is very important for applied researches in the field of non-destructive testing.
