On June 30, 2014, a solemn meeting devoted to the 82nd anniversary from the date of foundation of VIAM was held on the central square of VIAM.

When opening the meeting, academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM, congratulated the staff of the institute on the memorial date and wished the employees much success in scientific and production activity. He noted that «it is very important to remember those people who were at the beginning of VIAM foundation and those who created the high competence of our institute for many decades».

As Evgeny Kablov declared, «just the words of the anthem of VIAM reflect fully the important role which the institute continues to play in the development of materials for the aerospace industry and for ensuring the defense potential of our Homeland». 

According to him, VIAM always had a system approach to the solution of any most complex challenges set by the government. «And our institute made, makes and will make the best efforts to provide Russia with new materials for national aerospace complex», – emphasized the head of VIAM.

«I am proud that I work together with you, that I work in the collective where traditions, mutual assistance, solidarity and feeling of comradeship are not simply words», – concluded Evgeny Kablov.

Further, Nikolay N. Gonchar, deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the secretary of the Moscow department of the United Russia Party (Yedinaya Rossiya) congratulated the employees of VIAM».

He noted that employees of VIAM «set an example of courage and extraordinary unity when they saved the institute in the hardest time of the 90th, kept many scientific directions, predicted development of aviation materials science». «The result of your adherence to principles and persistence is now visible more than ever», - Nikolay Gonchar emphasized.

As the chairman of the commission of competition «Material scientist of the future» for school students, he awarded with diplomas the winners – graduates of the Moscow schools: S.V. Vansky, V.V. Zayats, I.K. Kvachenok, A.A. Makarkin , A.A. Nikanorov , E.O. Sopelnyak, Yu.M. Titkova, Yu.I. Kuznetsova and K.A. Korotkova.

In his turn, prof. Victor M. Chuyko, president of “Aviation engine-building Union” Association (ASSAD), congratulated all employees of VIAM on this remarkable date. «Today the whole national aircraft building industry celebrates the VIAM birthday», – he emphasized and added that «everything that was made by the national aviation industry for the last 82 years was inseparably linked with VIAM activities». «The belief in revival of the national aircraft industry is based, first of all, on the scientific base of your institute», – Victor Chuyko emphasized. «Huge work is necessary on this difficult way», – he declared and wished much success and new victories to the staff of the institute.

In addition, the president of ASSAD awarded a number of VIAM employees with the ASSAD Prize named after Nikolay D. Kuznetsov, an outstanding scientist, designer of aircraft engines. Engineers A.G. Evgenov, S. V. Nerush and A.M. Rogalev are the winners.

In conclusion of the solemn meeting, Evgeny Kablov awarded the foremost scientists, engineers and employees of VIAM with medals and diplomas.
