On November 19, 2013 the deputy head of VIAM Gelenjik Akimov Climatic Testing Center (GCTC) Mr. Oleg Startsev, Doctor of Engineering Science, took part in the Third scientific and technical conference devoted to the post-sale servicing of aircraft engines, which was held in the United Arab Emirates at the University of Sharjah emirate.
The conference reviewed the experience of the Research and Development Center of OJSC ‘Motor Sich’ that carries its business in the free economic area of Sharjah airport.
Oleg Startsev made a report “Ensuring materials serviceability within the engines life cycle”.
This paper rewired the examples of corrosion defects on the engines rotating blades, described the properties of prospective high-temperature-resistant materials for rotating blades of aircraft gas turbine engines, and stated the tasks and the possibilities of creating a national network of climatic test centers in Russia. In addition it analyzed the experience obtained through research of corrosion and aging of materials by VIAM Gelenjik Akimov Climatic Testing Center (GCTC), and submitted proposals regarding full-scale corrosion tests of typical materials in various climatic zones including the United Arab Emirates in cooperation with the Center for Corrosion of Sharjah University.
