On June, 2014 the delegation of Ulyanovsk region Government, headed by the governor Sergey I. Morosov visited the branch of All-Russian scientific-research institute of aviation materials – Ulyanovsk scientific and technological center ( USNC VIAM).
In the frames of the visit a deputy General director of VIAM, Candidate of Engineering Sciences Dmitry I. Kogan and chief of USTC, Doctor of Technical scientists Vyacheslav I. Postnov acquainted the governor with productive capacity of the center and told him about an importance of federal target program on strategic materials. In particular, Sergey Morosov visited the placed in operation in 2014 autoclave forming bay, equipped with modern computerized equipment, section of laying out and assembly of half-finished products from polymer composite materials («clean room»), but also sections of prepregs manufacture, PCM parts production and the laboratory of physical-chemical investigations.
As Dmitry Kogan said to the head of the region, «at present USTC performs serial supplies of materials and parts from PCM for Mi-38, Mi-171, An-148 and other aircrafts» and noted, that «in 2014 production of prepregs for manufacture of SSJ-100 aircraft wing structures was organized».
According to him, for the last three years due to its own profit the institute invested funds into a development of new productive capacities of the branch and some unique productions were created.
In his turn, Vyacheslav Postnov informed, that «for today at the enterprise the system of personnel training has been set; according to this system a choice of employees is carried out from the third course of Ulyanovsk universities». As the chief of USTC announced, «scientists of VIAM in the frames of cooperation with UlSU and UlSTU carry out training of students for practical skills in the area of PCM aviation structures manufacturing technologies». «After graduation from the university VIAM invites some of them to work at its site», stressed Vyacheslav Postnov.
Also, during the visit the design of new manufacturing building of USTC VIAM was presented to Sergey Morozov. Erection of it has been planned for the years of 2015-2016.
