VIAM

On June 28, 2018, a solemn rally devoted to the 86th anniversary from the date of foundation of VIAM was held on the central square of The All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials.

In his speech Academician of RAS, Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM congratulated the employees of VIAM on a memorable date: “It is great event for us and for the country according to the results obtained by VIAM. These results were used to strengthen defensive capacity of our state at different stages of historical development”.

“This holiday unites us, educates young children in keeping with the glorious traditions, which always distinguished VIAM. The history of VIAM is a glorious history, the pages of which are reflected in our museum. I hope that the youth of the institute will appreciate and remember teachers, predecessors and their enormous merits. It should be remembered that today VIAM carries out important state tasks to strengthen defensive capacity, diversify production and we have achieved good results”, - Evgeny Kablov pointed out.

Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Nikolay N. Gonchar, Deputy of Moscow City Duma, Alexander Yu. Smetanov, Head of Basmanny administrative board, Salman K. Dadaev, Head of the Basmanny municipal district, Gennady V. Anichkin and Academician of RAS, Valery I. Bukhtiyarov, Director of Boreskov Institute of Catalysis congratulated the employees of VIAM.

In the course of the solemn rally, winners of the contest “Materials scientists of the future” were awarded diplomas.

Besides, Evgeny Kablov awarded the foremost scientists, engineers and employees of VIAM with gold medals named after V.I. Zasulsky, A.T. Tumanov, I.I. Sidorin.

Later in the day the IV All-Russian Scientific-Research Conference named “The role of fundamental researches while implementing “Strategic directions for development of materials and technologies of their processing for the period till 2030” took place in the institute. The event was devoted to the 130^th anniversary from the birthday of Ivan I. Sidorin, Doctor of technical sciences, Professor, Honored Scientists and Engineer of RSFSR, laureate of State prize of USSR, founder of native aviation materials science and founder of VIAM.

138 organizations, more than 340 specialists from various industries participated in the conference. Scientists made reports on results of scientific researches on the development of materials and technologies of new generation, issues, achievements and perspectives in these fields.

On June 29, a holiday concert was held on the stage of the large concert hall, timed to the significant date.

The concert was unusual; it was prepared by the employees of the institute. “The concert was meaningful and the employees put a part of soul into it”, as noted by Denis Brailko and Anna Ipatova, the presenter of the event.

Spectators were presented theatrical performances based upon the fables by Krylov, Aesop, Phaeder and other concerted items.
