On the threshold of the 73^rd anniversary from the Victory in the Great Patriotic War the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) carried out a number of actions, confined to this outstanding event.

On May 8, a solemn rally, devoted to the Victory Day took place in VIAM.

Nikolay N. Gonchar, Deputy of State Duma of RF and Gennady V. Anichkin, Head of the Basmanny municipal district of Moscow came to congratulate the employees of the institute, who made an invaluable contribution to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

In his speech, Academician of RAS, Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM pointed out, that the Great Patriotic War held a special place in the history of our country. “We are very proud of those, who defended Moscow in 1941, fought to the bitter end in Stalingrad in 1942, made an attack in the Battle of Kursk in 1943 and took Reichstag in 1945. We pay homage to those, who worked in the rear”, - he said.

The Director General, in his speech, called to protect historical truth about that terrible war and critical role of the Soviet Union in liberation of Europe and the whole world from fascism. “Attempts to falsify history, erase feat of soviet soldiers and officers from the memory, distort the facts are absolutely inadmissible. We should fight with it, we should stand against it!”, - Evgeny Kablov emphasized.   

On competition of the solemn rally its participants laid flowers to the monument of the institute`s employees, fallen in battles with enemy.

The fholiday concert continued festivities. The songs of the war years were performed by the laureate of international competitions Nikolay Ryabukha.

Exposition of small arms of the war years gave a special atmosphere.

Besides, military field kitchen was organized on the central square of the institute, where everyone could try real soldier porridge.

It should be added, that a solemn rally was also held in the territory No 2 of VIAM.

On April, 22, the employees of VIAM conducted voluntary Saturday work (Subbotnik in Russian) in order to improve the monument of the 7^th Bauman division of the national militia.

It should be added, that the employees of VIAM participated in the All-Russian Memorial Event “The Immortal Regiment” in Moscow on the 9^th of May.
