Lyudmila Solovyanchik, representative of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM), became the winner in frame of the program "Participant in the Youth Research and Innovation Competition" ("UMNIK") held at the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). The contest was organized by the Foundation for facilitation of development of small business in the field of science and technology.
By the competition results, the project "Development of a current-conducting hydrophobic coating with carbon nanotubes" submitted by Ludmila Solovyanchik was appreciated as the best in the field "Modern materials and technologies for their production."
It should be noted that young scientists have to submit innovative projects of medium-term implementation to participate in the competition under the program "UMNIK". The projects are granted stepwise over 2 years in the amount of 200000 rubles/year.

Foundation for facilitation of development of small business in the field of Science and Technology was established in accordance with the Government Order of the Russian Federation of February 3, 1994. At present, the Fund implements the innovative development programs aimed at the establishment of new companies and development of existing high-tech companies, commercialization of results of scientific and technical activities, attracting investments in small innovative businesses, creating new jobs. By implementing these aims, the Foundation annually provides financial support to more than 1500 small innovative enterprises.
More than 55000 applications for all programs were placed, more than 13000 contracts on research and development were signed, more than 12000 young innovators were supported and more than 4500 start-ups were created during the action period of the Foundation. The program started in 2007, RAS held the contests under the program since 2008.
