On 8 April, 2015, a delegation of the Siberian Federal University has visited the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials. Among other persons, Vladimir N. Baranov, Director of the Institute of nonferrous metals and material science (INMaMS SFU) and Nikolay N. Dovzhenko, Head of the Institute of Oil and Gas (IOaG SFU) participated in the delegation.
Within the framework of the visit, the guests were acquainted with the main directions of the VIAM’s activities, scientific-research and testing complexes, laboratories, high-tech small-capacity productions. Achievements of the institute in the field of material science and the work of unique equipment were demonstrated to them.
In the course of negotiation with the leadership of VIAM, the representatives of SFU discussed prospects of the bilateral agreement. In particular, new methods of studying the structure-phase state of metallic materials, control of aluminum alloys microstructure using modification and heat treatment, development of scientific principles of synthesis of nano-dispersed systems and creation of 3-D nanostructured composite materials and coatings on their basis. Besides, an agreement was reached concerning cooperation in the field of materials for oil and gas industry (light alloys for drilling rigs, complex protection systems for oil and gas pipelines and surface facilities).
By the results of the meeting, the guests estimated highly the closed innovation cycle realized at VIAM: from fundamental researches to the development of materials of new generation and technologies for their processing, mastering of engineering processes on the most modern production equipment, issue of normative documents and organization of technology transfer and qualification tests.
The representatives of VIAM and SFU have agreed to participate together in competitions held by the Russian Fundamental Research Fund, Russian Science Foundation, FCP “Research and developments in priority directions of enhancement of scientific-technological complex of Russia” for realization of basic and fundamental works.
Besides, taking into account the training center established at VIAM, a decision has been made about joint works in the field of training of masters, organization of study courses, practice, jointly conferences and publication of scientific papers in journals issued by VIAM and the Siberian Federal University.
It should be noted, that an agreement about scientific-engineering cooperation was signed between VIAM and SFU on November 26, 2014.
For reference
The Siberian Federal University (SFU) is Russian federal university located in Krasnoyarsk. It is the largest university of East Russia. SFU was founded by integration of 4 universities of the city in 2006. The Krasnoyarsk State Trade and Economic Institute and SREC “Kristall” were joined to SFU in 2012. The Guardian board of SFU consists of representatives of business, politicians and scientists. Chairman of the Board is Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the Government of RF.
The Institute of nonferrous metals and material science (INMaMS) was founded as a structural division of the Siberian Federal University in 2008. INMaMS was formed on the basis of technological, metallurgical and chemical faculties of SFU.
The Institute of Oil and Gas (IOaG) trains specialists for professional activities in industrial, scientific and design-engineering institutions and enterprises in the field of oil- and gas production and processing.
