On March 20, 2015, Sergey V. Emelyanov, director of aviation industry department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian federation, visited the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIАМ).
Sergey V. Emelyanov inspected experimental and production facilities of VIAM, in particular research and test complexes, laboratories and high-tech low-tonnage production bays. Specialists of the Institute told about last achievements of VIAM in the field of materials engineering and showed operation of unique equipment.
Academician of RAS Evgeny N. Kablov, Director General of VIAM told about the main activities of the Institute and about advanced developments of the Institute in the field of creation of materials of new generation. A special attention was paid to the Strategic directions of the development of materials and technologies of their processing for the period until 2030. «Due to a huge scientific potential and own up-to-date low-tonnage production VIAM meets the challenges in the field of development and production of different materials for successful realization of key state programs», – noted Evgeny Kablov.
It should be noted that Sergey V. Emelyanov paid his special attention to developments of VIAM in the field of composite materials and additive technologies. In particular, a component of advanced aviation engine PD-14, which was made by VIAM for the first time in Russia by additive technologies, was demonstrated to the quest. «We could manufacture front combustion chamber swirler, which meets in full to all requirements of design documentation», – emphasized Evgeny Kablov. According to him, this aircraft component has been entered into the design documentation and put into production.
Sergey V. Emelyanov appreciated highly the scientific achievements of VIAM and noted perfect up-to-date equipment and high-skilled personnel of the Institute.
