VIAM - MSU: new horizons of cooperation
On January 14, 2015 a delegation of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, headed by the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Academician, Doctor of Biological Sciences Mikhail Petrovich Kirpichnikov has visited All-Russian Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM).
During the visit, the guests got acquainted with the main activities of VIAM, research and testing complex, laboratories, high-tech small-scale production and spoken with scientists and specialists.
General Director of VIAM, Academician Evgeny Kablov has introduced the representatives of the Moscow State University with the strategic directions of materials development and processing technologies for the period up to 2030 and future directions of the Institute activity. He has also informed about the update of the VIAM testing and research base, achievements in the field of materials and structures protection from corrosion, aging, and biodegradation, microbial testing of materials in different climatic zones, as well as foreign experience in studies of bacterial corrosion.
During the meeting with VIAM management, the cooperation prospects, including the possibility of establishing a joint laboratory of biodegradation investigation based on the Faculty of Biology, were discussed.
Michael Kirpichnikov has highly evaluated the research and production potential of VIAM and experience accumulated in the Institute.
The delegation also included MSU vice-dean of the Faculty of Biology on innovation matters Dmitri Akhayev and Researcher Vera L. Makeeva.
