October 9, 2014 at All-Russian scientific-research institute of aviation materials (VIAM) a scientific-technical conference «Problems and perspectives of metal-matrix composite materials development» was held.
In the course of the event scientists, post-graduators and specialists of VIAM and representatives of other leading enterprises of aviation branch, scientific-research institutes, dealing with development of metal composite materials on a base of aluminum, titanium, niobium alloys and technologies of their manufacture.
General Director of VIAM, academician of RAS Evgeny Nicolaevich Kablov opened the conference. He greeted the guests and informed, that «metal-matrix composite materials play a very important role in development of engineering and machine building». According to him, when creating these materials, it is impossible to achieve the required results without a wide application of digital technologies, including additive ones. «Additive technologies are the key direction of reforming of the home industry and open a unique possibility to create principally new structures», the head of VIAM stressed
In this connection he noted, that the Government of the Russian Federation proposed a national technological initiative of wide application of digital technologies in industry and other different scientific spheres.
Then deputy General Director of VIAM, Candidate of Engineering Sciences Denis V. Grashchenkov made a report «Modern state, perspectives of development and application of metallic composite materials»
In particular, he told about manufacturing possibilities of MCM and perspectives of these materials application in aeronautical engineering, aircraft engine manufacturing, power engineering and power electronics. Besides, in his report Denis Grashchenkov touched upon the subjects of research and manufacturing infrastructure of VIAM laboratories on a development and production of MCM and parts on their base.
Participants of the conference expressed their thanks to VIAM for excellent organization of the event. In their opinion, the presented reports raised a keen interest owing to a scientific novelty and practical significance. Besides, many of them noted, that a regular holding of similar thematic conferences is of great importance for applied investigations in the field of metal-matrix composite materials.
By the results of the conference a joint decision was taken.
