On September 16–18, 2014 representatives of All-Russian scientific–research institute of aviation materials (VIAM) took part in VI International scientific conference «New advanced materials and their manufacturing technologies – 2014» (NAM-2014). The event was held in Volgograd state technical university.
On the 16-th of September in the course of a plenary sitting deputy General director of VIAM, Candidate of Engineering Sciences Larisa Vladimirovna Chursova made a report «Polymer composite materials for complex technical systems», in which she informed in detail about general principles of creation of new generation materials.
In his turn, an adviser of General director of VIAM, academician of RAS Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Buznik reported at the section «Methods of study and diagnostics of materials and structures ».
In his report he proposed to combine efforts of materials and spectrometry specialists and chemists–polymer scientists for study of strength characteristics of polymer composites using nuclear magnetic resonance. «This method has already been used for a long time in medicine (for example, magnetic-resonance tomography), but its application in science and engineering is restrained owing to a high cost of testing equipment», academician of RAS noted.
On September 17 on a plenary sitting Vyacheslav Buznik also made a report «Fluoropolymer fibrous materials: manufacture, structure, fields of application».
It should be added, that leading scientists, specialists of the largest universities and branch institutes from 40 cities of Russia and other countries took part in the conference. In the frames of the event the following sections were working: «Nanomaterials and technologies», «Composite materials», «Ceramic and powder materials», «Methods of investigation and diagnostics of materials and structures».
