On September 22, 2014 Alexander V. Potapov, deputy minister of the industry and trade of the Russian Federation has visited VIAM.
During the visit, he examined experimental, research and production base of VIAM. In particular, he inspected the following departments: low-tonnage production of superheat-resistant alloys, isothermal forging of GTE discs, research center for chemical express analysis, N. M. Sklyarov testing complex of high-temperature tests and additive production.
In addition, the following research and production complexes were demonstrated: high-precision prepregs, high-temperature protective materials and systems, single-crystal casting of GTE blades, polymer composite materials, ceramic composite materials and anti-oxidation coatings, ion-plasma coatings and heat-resistant powder solders.
Academician Evgeny N. Kablov told to the guest about Strategic directions of the development of materials and technologies of their processing for the period until 2030, advanced developments of the Institute in the field of creation of materials of the new generation and about high-skill personnel training system working at VIAM. «Own facilities and high level of skills of our specialists allow us to solve a wide range of tasks in the field of development of materials for different industries», – emphasized Evgeny Kablov.
In their turn, experts of VIAM showed to A. Potapov the work of unique scientific and production equipment and told about their scientific activities and the newest developments of the Institute in the field of materials science.

Alexander V. Potapov was born on February 23, 1963 in Moscow. In 1986, he graduated from N.E. Bauman Moscow Technical University as mechanical engineer in the field of optical-electronic devices. He is Candidate of Economic Sciences.
On July 7, 2014, he was appointed to the position of deputy minister of the industry and trade of the Russian Federation.
