On April 9 - 10, 2014, Svyatoslav Nerush and Alexey Rogalev, specialists of VIAM, took part in the 30th International Scientific and Technical Conference «Technology – Equipment – Tool – Quality», which was held in Minsk within the International Specialized Exhibition for Mechanical Engineering.
Svyatoslav Nerush made the report «Production of metal powders for additive technologies» at plenary session of the conference. He told about the importance of the dynamically developing additive technologies, in particular about selective laser sintering of metal powders.
«Intensive application of additive technologies in the domestic industry is restrained by unavailability of production of feed stocks for these technologies in the Russian Federation», he emphasized. According to Svyatoslav Nerush, VIAM launched the closed cycle of the additive technology to solve this problem. The cycle includes production of consumable electrodes, production of fine-dispersed metal powders of domestic alloys and selective laser sintering of these powders with their subsequent HIPing.
Moreover, the representative of VIAM noted that «possibility of carrying out of the full cycle of researches and availability of the necessary scientific and technical documentation for output goods offer the challenge to VIAM to start up mass production of metal powders with their further certification for leading enterprises of the industry». «Creation of an integrated center providing mass production of powders and mastering of additive technologies on the basis of VIAM will allow a reduction in technological backwardness from foreign competitors in this field», – he added. In his turn, Alexey Rogalev presented a poster «Prospects of application of powder materials manufactured by VIAM in engine-building production».
In his report, he noted that VIAM had organized mass production and supply of powder materials to the leading engine-building enterprises (OJSC Aviadvigatel, OJSC Perm Engine Company, NPO Saturn, etc.). «Our customers evaluate positively the quality of materials supplied by VIAM. That is why the further cooperation to broaden the product range of powder materials made from domestic alloys is in progress with the purpose of 100 % substitution of foreign materials», – Alexey Rogalev emphasized.
