PCM for rotorcraft
On April 10, 2014, the All-Russian scientific-research institute of aviation materials (VIAM) hosted the scientific conference «Polymer composite materials of new generation for rotorcraft equipment».
At the conference, scientists and engineers of leading enterprises of the aviation industry made reports about creation of new composites.
Candidate of Sciences (Tech.) Olga G. Ospennikova, deputy director general of VIAM, addressed her opening speech to the attendees. She greeted participants of the conference and noted that now polymer composite materials find their application in many areas of the industry, and especially in such high-tech branch as aircraft building. «Exactly thanks to their high specific characteristics composites are effectively used in aircraft-and helicopter equipment», - Olga Ospennikova emphasized.
According to her, in recent years VIAM had made a big step forward in the development of composite materials of new generation. «Such materials possess unique functional properties and are developed taking into account essentially other service characteristics», - Olga Ospennikova added.
Further, candidate of sciences (tech.) Dmitry I. Kogan, deputy director general of VIAM, made the report «PCM of new generation developed by VIAM for application in helicopter equipment».
In particular, he told about history of creation of the institute, its last developments in the field of composite materials and added «all development activities VIAM conducts according to the strategic directions of the development of materials and technologies of their processing for the period until 2030».
As participants of the conference noticed, this event allowed to carry out interesting actual dialogue concerning application of polymer composite materials for manufacture of rotorcraft equipment. In their opinion, such conferences are very important for the progress of the domestic science, economics and industry and, in particular, aviation engineering and for transition of Russia to the new technological level.
Besides, representatives of the aviation industry expressed their gratitude to VIAM management for the provided opportunity to listen to interesting reports and for high organizational level of the event. According to them, the interest of the scientific and expert community to the conferences held at the institute increases year after year. In addition, a video film about achievements of VIAM in the field of creation of composites of new generation was shown to the attendees.
