On February 5, 2014, the Approval Certificate and the Permission Letter for aviation materials production were transferred to representatives of the All-Russian scientific-research institute of aviation materials (VIAM) at IAC Aviation Register.
In a festive atmosphere Sergey P. Instrumentov, the head of the IAC Service for Certification of production, repair and accreditation, has handed over the above documents to Larissa V. Chursova, deputy director general of VIAM.
The documents permit production of 12 types of prepregs for 10 grades of carbon- and glass- plastics (VKU-25, VKU-28, VKU-29, VKU-39, VPS-48/7781, VPS-48/120, VPS-47/7781, VPS-43K, VKU-27l and VKU-27tr) at the institute in accordance with the approved standard documents.
It should be noted that VIAM became the first enterprise of the domestic industry, which production of PCM is certified by the IAC Aviation Register. The new composite materials specified in the received documents are intended for development and production of engine nacelles of the advanced PD-14 engine.
In addition, another two production lines working at VIAM have been certified by IAC Aviation Register recently: manufacture of cast bars from heat-resistant alloys and isothermal forging of GTE disks.
