Priority task of VIAM– quality of products
The Round Table «Quality of ZhS32-VI heat resistant cast alloy delivered by different producers» was held on January 24, 2014 at the All-Russian scientific-research institute of aviation materials (VIAM).
Candidate of Sciences (Tech.) Olga G. Ospennikova, deputy director general of VIAM, addressed her opening speech to the participants. She greeted the attendees and emphasized, that «the main objective of the Round Table is ensuring of high quality of the alloy created by VIAM and produced by different manufacturers for many branches of the domestic industry».
Within the frames of the event, reports of specialists of metallurgical and machine-building enterprises, which are consumers or producers of ZhS32-VI alloy, were presented.
In particular, the report «Innovative technology for production of ZhS32-VI heat resistant alloy taking into account processing of all types of wastes at VIAM under conditions of the certified mass production» was made by Doctor of Science (Tech.) Victor V. Sidorov, chief of section, VIAM.
In his turn, Candidate of Science (Tech.) Nikolay G. Orekhov, chief of section, VIAM, presented to the participants an analytical review of statistical data on deliveries of ZhS32-VI alloy made by VIAM.
Alexander S. Koryakovtsev, representative of Aviadvigatel OJSC told about experience in application of ZhS32-VI alloy in the engine building industry.
A decision was taken following the results of the Round Table. It was pointed out that ZhS32-VI alloy produced at VIAM under conditions of mass production completely meets the requirements of specifications (TU 1-92-177-91) and international standards. Above all, it is caused by the work of highly skilled specialists of the institute and by availability of the certified production bay equipped with up-to-date automated melting, analytical and test units. Besides the above, the document emphasizes that ZhS32-VI alloy made with the use of waste products is suitable for commercial application at engine-building plants to manufacture turbine rotor blades of GTE of different functions. At the same time, inadmissibility of violation of ZhS32-VI manufacturing technology by other producers was noted as it leads to worsening the alloy quality.
ZhS32-VI high heat resistant alloy was developed by VIAM in the early eighties of the last century. It was the first domestic Re-bearing alloy allowing to improve significantly its heat resistant properties in comparison with those of analogous materials developed earlier.
ZhS32-VI alloy is successfully applied in rotor blades of the 1st turbine stage in engines purposed for military and civil aviation. In addition, it is used for manufacture of rotor blades for GTEs of gas compressor stations of the «Nord Stream» gas pipeline.
